I do machine learning at the New York Times. Before this, I've spent several years (phd stuff) developing scalable learning algorithms for extracting patterns in large document collections and social networks under the tutelage of Erik B. Sudderth. Even before that, I spent a bit of time doing research in fMRI and schizophrenia. In general, I'm interested in problems that can help shed injustices and inequalities within our society. On the side I've tried to build tools for investigative journalism and love to play music.
